When Vanessa & John booked their wedding, we immediately started planning their engagement session since their wedding is in October. They are getting married at St George Greek Orthodox Church so they wanted something totally opposite of their wedding and I was here for it! (something I tell all my couples 🙂

I contacted a couple of farms down by me but because of liability, they wouldn’t let us shoot their. Thanks to the powers of social media, a friend recommended Ladybug Farms Sanctuary in Odessa. Kris, who runs/owns the farm, immediately said yes and we started planning. Funny thing though, as I pulled into the farm, it dawned on me that I had totally shot a wedding there a little over 3 years ago and the name just didn’t ring a bell.

Back to Vanessa & John. Farm life was right here and it was great. Having different pastures, places to shoot makes it so nice because we got different backgrounds all in one location. We also got Nugget (the white goat that is front and center), Parks (their blind/deaf cattle dog), Fig (the miniature horse), Stanley (the donkey not shown) and a few of the other animals that have been rescued. We knew it was going to be an “animal led” session, if they wanted to be involved, great but if not it was no big deal.

Kris at the farm was amazing, always making sure that we had everything we needed and the session was so much fun! Can’t wait for their wedding in the fall <3

A little more than half way through the session, Kris came out to feed the newly arrived baby calf, Tucker and asked Vanessa if they wanted to feed him. She jumped at the chance, definitely got a little giddy and I knew he had to be included in their engagement photos 🙂
